Sweet and Spicy Honey Chilli Chicken is absolutely delicious yet simple and easy. Chicken marinated, fried, and coated in honey with chili sauce, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper.
We can serve this for a lunch as a side with fried rice or as an appetizer or as an evening snack. It’s a very adaptable recipe and it’s an Indo-Chinese. Honey Chilli Chicken
Ingredients
To Marinate
- 1/2kg/1.2 lbC Boneless Chicken Cut into medium pieces
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
- Salt to taste
For Sautéing:
- 2 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Garlic finely chopped
- 1 tsp Green Chilies finely chopped
- 2 tsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Vinegar:
- 1 tsp Chilli Sauce or your spice level
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder or your spice level
- 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Spring Onion Green part
- 2 tbsp White Sesame Seeds:
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken piece with ingredients listed above "To Marinate" and set it aside for 30 mins.
- Heat the cooking oil per your preference, in a Skillet/Kadai on high-medium flame.When oil is hot, reduce to the flame to medium-low.
- Deep fry the marinated chicken in batches.
- Once it turns to light color flip them and fry until golden brown and crisp.
- Once done transfer it to an absorbent paper.
- Heat another Pan/Kadai, add 2 tbsp of remaining oil from the fried chicken.
- Add 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped, 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped and stir for a couple of minutes.Need not saute, till it turns brown, just need to saute, until the raw smell disappears
- Add 1 tsp of chopped green chili, and stir for 1-2 mins.
- Then, add 2 tsp dark soy sauce, make sure to keep the flame in medium flame.Combine and stir well.
- Add 1 tsp of white vinegar and mix it well.
- Add 1 tsp of Red chilli sauce.
- then add 3 tbsp of honey and, saute well.
- Add 1/4 cup of water and mix it again and bring it to a boil.
- Once it reaches to saucy consistenc and oil starts to separate from mixture. Add 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder and 1 tsp of chili flakes and combine
- Add a pinch of salt to taste, make sure you don't add too much salt cause all sauces are little salty and mix well.
- Now, add the fried chicken; combine and mix it well.
- Add 1/2 cup of spring onion, green part, reserve little for garnish, and mix it well.
- Add 1/2 to 1 tsp white sesame seed, as needed, and mix it well. Reserve little for garnish while serving the dish.
- Cook for 5 more minutes on medium heat.
- Honey Chilli Chicken is ready. Serve hot for a lunch as a side with fried rice or as an appetizer or as an evening snack. Enjoy!
