Yes, I”m back after an unexpected sabbatical from blogging. Life has been incredibly busy, blogging took a back seat while I spent time with family, and friends and much more. Coming to today’s recipe, it’s a very easy Pal payasam recipe, which requires only 3 ingredients. Usually making most of payasam is laborious and time-consuming. This Pal Payasam-Pressure cooker method is super easy and delicious just like Ambalapuzha Pal Payasam. If you haven’t tried yet trust me it worth trying and is very easy and tasty. How to make Pal Payasam/Kerala Pal Payasam in Pressure cooker with step by step photo:
In a pressure cooker, add the milk, rice and sugar and mix everything well together.
Close the lid without the weight on medium-high heat.When it steams, put the steam weight on and cook for one whistle and after 1st whistle lower the flame and cook for another 30 minutes. Switch off the heat and leave it on the stove until all pressure settles.
(Optional) Allow to sit for at least 1 hours before opening and transferring the payasam to serving dish. The more you keep the more tasty pal payasam you will get. Serve warm or chilled.

Pal Payasam/Kerala Pal Payasam-Pressure Cooker Method
Equipment
- Pressure Cooker
Ingredients
- 4 Cups (240ml) Whole Milk I have used Reduced 2% milk
- 1/2 to 1/3 Cup (55 to 75 grms) Kerala Raw Rice/Any Raw Rice Long grain rice /Basmathi rice I have used Kerala payasam red raw rice
- 3/4 to 1 Cup (156-215 grms) Granulated Sugar
Instructions
- In a pressure cooker, add the milk, rice and sugar and and mix everything well together.
- Close the lid without the weight on medium-high heat.

Notes
- Payasam gets thicker once it cools down. You could adjust the consistency at any time by adding boiled milk to the payasam.
- Use a big pressure cooker to make this payasam or it is likely to over flow.
