Saying Hellooo with Onam Sadya Special Chakka Aviyal- Jackfruit Aviyal 🙂 How are you all doing? It’s been ages since I said hi to all. Again it’s been a whirlwind of few months. Things are settling back into a more normal routine and, I was eagerly waiting and very happy to get back to posting here.
Wow! Time flies. Another Onamis knocking on our door. I’m sure most of you have already started preparations for a grand Onasadya. This year, we are not celebrating Onam, so I have no plans to make grand sadya at home but, we have a couple of Onam celebrations lined up with our friends.
Have you ever tried Chakka Aviyal-Jackfruit Aviyal? It’s popular and close to people in Kerala. This one was my grandma’s masterpiece. It’s almost the same as traditional aviyal usually, prepared with a mixture of veggies. Here the only ingredient is jack fruit and its seeds.
If you had to choose one favorite Sadya recipe, what would it be? Ok, that is a difficult question and, I would have had a hard time answering it too, but after thinking long and hard, my mind always pined on to Aviyal. As you all know, Kerala Sadyawithout Aviyal is incomplete, so for this Onam sadya, why don’t we try avial with a twist.
Traditionally this recipe is prepared in a brass vessel called “Uruli”, which is a very thick and heavy vessel to let heat spread evenly. Now let see, how it is made in my kitchen.
Happy Cooking and Wishing you all the best things the life has to offer and may all your dreams come true. Wishing you and your family a very prosperous and fabulous Onam.
